Guide for ICONS 98 Interactive Catalog Of Natural Stones
General Info There are THREE tool bar areas surrounding the main screen.
Area #1- Map Area- Always click here to find your geographical reference. The main screen will respond to your selection. Select specific locations from main screen map, and use the map in Area #1 to return. Area #2-Upper Tool bar- Select whether you wish to search for Materials or Companies. Once materials is selcted, options change to image, stone record and specifications, and the list of suppliers. When companies is selcted, the options will change again.
Area #3- Lower Tool Bar- top row- Scroll though materials frame by frame using arrows. second row- Press Search to view by name or type, press List to view all stones according to your geographical selection. Press Tile to view thumbnails. third row- click for a Full-screen view. To return or bring back the World Map (or if you ever get lost) USE BACK OR MAPS. fourth row-To print any info or export any image, use PRINT or EXPORT button.

Step by Step Operation Guide

- To search for materials:
Determine your geographic field in Area #1. Select either the whole world Map, or specify a geographic region by clicking in the main screen area. (for Demo CD operation, begin with World Map not a specific country) Select Materials from the tool bar in Area #2. Refer to the toolbar in Area #3 to Search or to Tile images. From the list, note the symbols in the legend will indicate what fields are known. Double click any stone name listed to view image. Once image is viewed, refer to toolbar in Area #2 for options (stone properties and suppliers).
- To search for companies: Determine your geographic field in Area #1. Select a country (e.g. Portugal or Spain) by clicking in the main screen area. Select Companies from the tool bar in Area #2. From the list, note the symbols in the legend will indicate what fields are known. Double click any company name listed for information. Refer to the toolbar in Area #3 to Search for companies. For Companies supplying materials or advertising, refer to toolbar in Area #2 for options. - To print or export information on companies, refer to toolbar in Area #3, row four. If you ever get lost, to return to the beginning, use the Map Button in Area #3, third row, and then click on the Map a couple of times in Area #1.
Other Features- Edit Names- Once a Material is selected, you can add names to the Data Base on your computer by using "edit names" on Tool Bar Area #2. This name will then appear in a Search. Favorites- Once a Material is selected, you can select Favorites in Tool Bar Area #3. A list of Favorites will appear when you return to the beginning Page of the World Map. You can organize your own custom lists.
