Slab Inspections

Slab Inspections

Chapter 1

Before we inspect the slabs, We must know well about the problems of stones.

1: Crack, crack can be happened in follow situations: When the blocks were digging out from quarry, hen we transport the blocks, and when we cut the blocks. Crack can be repaired in stone like marble, limestones, and onyx. But for granite, crack is difficult to deal with. Granite is harder than marble. How can we find the cracks easily, I think first, when we inspect the blocks, we need to water on the surface of the blocks, when it nearly dry, you will see there is not try, there is a crack. Second when inspect the slabs, we must use eyes, and fingers to see and feel.

2 Patch: Granite and marble 's color never uniform. Cause it is natural,it is very different from manmade stone. Patch has some representations: flecks are not consistent, flower pattern are disordered. When inspected slabs, we have to see the whole face in1-2m away from the slabs then we can see clearly.
