Here are some pictures of the floor in the front hall of the house we are involved with in Oman. The floor is polished granite tiles. The name of the granite is "Raw Silk", which I believe comes from India, and it is quite pink. The problem is that about 2/3 feet in from the front door, there is discolouration in the tiles and also "pitting". There is also some "pitting" in other granite tiles outside the front door, which are called "Paradiso". The problem does not seem to be caused by water being brought in. The front door area faces the beach and the sea air. The problem has also occurred on a house nearby, the granite in this case is "Kashmiri White". There is also a problem inside the hall itself (no photograph attached) in that there is a patch of discolouration in a few of the tiles, which apparently changes position. Is it possible that somehow moisture is being trapped inside the tile and cannot escape through the polish/seal, and is causing discolouration/pitting? |
