| After
3 years of construction, the new Hotel Savoy recently opened (May
1, 2000) in Piazza della Republica. The interior of the hotel has
managed to retain some of the original Carrara marble in the main
stairwell, while much of the remodelled bar, restaurant, and interior
rooms have been completely refurbished in classic combinations of
earth-toned marbles and mosaics. Intricate detail respects a subtle
and traditional blend of classic design and modern comfort.
Contrasting
and complimenting combinations of Emperador marbles and mosaics
blend walls and horizontal planes with elegant lines and definition.
Horizontal planes feature Emperador Dark and vertical planes are
represented by Emperador Light and inlaid mosaics.
Spanish Emperador
Light was chosen for the elegant Bar counter top in the New Hotel
Savoy Bar. Matching round table tops throughout the seating area
keep with a consistency of quality and color.
Work in progress-
bar countertop installed. Polished beveled edges, butt-jointed with
a silicon seam, were used to connect the 6cm thick laminated edge
bar countertop, fabricated in 4 pieces (approximately 20 feet/6
meters in length).
